The mission

of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IMT) at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of BUT in Brno consists in the development and application of advanced engineering technologies and the education of top experts in this field. IMT focuses on basic and applied research in the areas of machining, forming, welding and foundry. It combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, supports an interdisciplinary approach and cooperation with industry. The goal is to increase the efficiency, quality and sustainability of production processes, while emphasizing the minimization of environmental impacts and the promotion of gender balance in technical fields.

of the Institute of Engineering Technology (IMT) is to become a leading multidisciplinary center of excellence in the field of engineering technologies in the Czech Republic with strong links to European and global research institutions. IMT aims to educate top-level graduates who will actively cooperate with industrial enterprises on the development of innovative technologies. The institute supports a multidisciplinary approach and close cooperation between individual departments and other academic institutions, which enables the application of basic research in real industrial conditions. Emphasis is placed on internationalization, supporting student mobility and creating conditions for foreign students. IMT also focuses on the high quality of doctoral study programs and unique research equipment, which make it an indispensable partner for basic and applied research.
